Humor and denounce are 2 words that can merge into one: cartoons. From France we invited a representant of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, which will bring the testimony of its life before and after the attack to their headquarters in Paris, in 2015. Cartooning for Peace brings together cartoonists from all around the world. It is an association that aims to promote the satirical drawing, cartoon/illustration, as a vehicle to raise awareness for peace. This collective will be represented by its editorial director but also by two of its members: Vasco Gargalo, Portuguese cartoonist responsible for the image of this edition of the festival; and Michel Kichka, an Israeli dissonant and atypical voice in the Israeli-Palestinian context. The writer Lídia Jorge will address the work of António Aleixo, signaling what’s corrosive and humoristic, crossing it with contemporary political and social issues.
