Internationally known breakdancer/performer Redouan Ait Chitt created a duet for himself and Jeroen van der Linden, a professional breakdancer and childhood best friend. They were coached by Ed Wubbe, artistic director of the world famous Scapino Ballet Rotterdam. Stepping Stones tells the journey of a close friendship between two dancers who have known each other since the 4th grade of primary school. Growing up both of them had many challenges to overcome. Through the years they have realized that sticking together has been their stepping stone to life’s success.
water, the element of adversity, the most pure and necessary element. Liquid, rigid, volatile, crucial to give and to take life. dozens of emigrants climb on to an overcrowded truck. Their goal: fortress Europe.
When they arrive there after an exhausting journey, the confrontation with another brutal reality awaits them: the European handling of refugees.
In a Nut Shell
from a seed to war, from meat to love, from indifference to apocalypse. An attempt to capture the world in a nutshell.
each year 40.000 people from Africa, Asia and Middle East, try to enter Europe. They flee from war, persecution and poverty. Since the ways by land have been interrupted, they board overloaded vessels and face a dangerous and often deadly voyage across the Mediterranean.
